Assessment Format
The Personal Profile is comprised of 4 timed written and video responses that will help us get to know you as a person. We are interested in your reasoning and communication skills – keep in mind, there is no ‘right’ answer.
Question 1: You will review and confirm that you agree to the terms of the Personal Profile.
Question 2: You will have 10 minutes to prepare and type a 250-word written response.
Question 3: You will have 2 minutes to prepare and then record a 2-minute video response.
Question 4: You will have 3 minutes to prepare and then record a 3-minute video response.
Requirements
•Laptop or desktop computer with a webcam and microphone
•Stable Internet connection
•Pen and paper for taking notes
•Quiet location
•30 minutes of uninterrupted time
How it works
Click on the button at the bottom of this page to enter your secure Personal Profile space. You will be directed to Kira Talent – the third-party website through which you will be able to:
•Watch a Welcome Video from Dean Chris Yip
•Register – keep your name as the default “U of T Engineering”
•Test your webcam and microphone
•Practice the single sample question until you are fully comfortable with the system
•Complete your official Personal Profile Assessment when you’re ready

Important information
•If you require accommodations due to a disability, contact admissions@engineering.utoronto.ca to arrange the appropriate accommodation.
•Your questions will be randomly generated from a pool of potential questions.
•Do not share your questions with anyone.
•Once you begin your first response, you must complete your Personal Profile. You cannot leave and return later. Prior to starting your official assessment, please ensure you have 30min set aside to complete it.
•You cannot repeat your Personal Profile.
•Your responses must be entirely your own work. No one else may be in the room while you complete your Personal Profile, including parents, guardians, friends, etc.
•Only one computer should be used during the completion of the Personal Profile, all other devices should be turned off or out of reach
•Only one browser tab should be open during the completion of your Personal Profile
•Written responses should be typed directly into the Kira Talent response box and should not be copied and pasted from another tab or application
•The responses you submit through the site are confidential. Only the Admissions Committee's designates who assess your application will see your submission.
Troubleshooting

•If you experience technical issues, contact Kira Talent via online chat using the “Help” button at the top right corner of the Personal Profile platform.
•If you experience non-technical issues, use the “Contact Us” form in the top right corner of your Engineering Applicant Portal to outline your problem.
